καὶ θαυμαστὸν οὐδέν, εἰ πρὸς τοὺς ἀλλοτρίους τοιοῦτος ἦν, οἳ βαρυτέρᾳ καὶ δυνατωτέρᾳ χειρὶ συμφωνήσαντες ἠμύναντο ἂν ἄρχοντα χειρῶν ἀδίκων, ὁπότε καὶ πρὸς τοὺς γένει μὲν οἰκείους, γνώμῃ δ’ ἠλλοτριωμένους, ἐρήμους καὶ μόνους καὶ πολλῷ καταδεέστερα κεκτημένους ἐμετρίαζεν, ἐλαττούμενος ἑκὼν ἐν οἷς πλεονεκτεῖν ἐδύνατο.
