μυρίοι μὲν οὖν εἰσιν ἀπὸ μυρίων ἀφορμῶν κατὰ παντοδαπὰς ἰδέας πραγμάτων συνιστάμενοι, δύο δ’ οἱ νυνὶ μέλλοντες ἐπικρίνεσθαι τρόποι, ὧν ὁ μὲν πρεσβύτερος, ὁ δὲ νεώτερος, πρεσβύτερος μὲν ὁ τὰ πρῶτα καὶ ἡγεμονικὰ τῇ φύσει τιμῶν, νεώτερος δὲ ὁ τὰ ὑπήκοα καὶ ἐν ἐσχατιαῖς ἐξεταζόμενα.
