Οὐ τοίνυν εἰρηνικὸς καὶ φιλοδίκαιος αὐτὸ μόνον ἦν ὁ ἀστεῖος, ἀλλὰ καὶ ἀνδρεῖος καὶ πολεμικός· οὐχ ἕνεκα τοῦ πολεμεῖν — οὐ γὰρ δύσερις ἦν καὶ φιλόνεικος —, ἀλλ’ ὑπὲρ βεβαίου τῆς πρὸς τὸ μέλλον εἰρήνης, ἣν οἱ ἀντίπαλοι καθῄρουν. σαφεστάτη δὲ πίστις τὰ πραχθέντα.
