ἐξ ὧν γὰρ ἂν ἴδωμεν ἢ ἀκούσωμεν ἢ ὀσφρανθῶμεν ἢ γευσώμεθα ἢ ἁψώμεθα, λῦπαι καὶ ἡδοναὶ καὶ φόβοι καὶ ἐπιθυμίαι συνίστανται, μηδενὸς τῶν παθῶν καθ’ αὑτὸ σθένοντος, εἰ μὴ ἐχορηγεῖτο ταῖς διὰ τῶν αἰσθήσεων παρασκευαῖς.
