οὐ γὰρ ἐν σοὶ μὲν νοῦς ἐστιν ἡγεμὼν ἐπιτεταγμένος, ᾧ καὶ τοῦ σώματος ἅπασα κοινωνία πειθαρχεῖ καὶ ἑκάστη τῶν αἰσθήσεων ἕπεται, ὁ δὲ κόσμος, τὸ κάλλιστον καὶ μέγιστον καὶ τελεώτατον ἔργον, οὗ πάντα τὰ ἄλλα συμβέβηκεν εἶναι μέρη, βασιλέως ἀμοιρεῖ τοῦ συνέχοντος καὶ ἐνδίκως ἐπιτροπεύοντος. εἰ δ’ ἀόρατος ὁ βασιλεύς, μὴ θαυμάσῃς· οὐδὲ γὰρ ὁ ἐν σοὶ νοῦς ὁρατός.
