σώματος γὰρ ὀφθαλμοῖς οὐκ ἠξίωσε καταλαμβάνεσθαι, τάχα μὲν ἐπειδὴ θνητὸν ἀιδίου ψαύειν οὐχ ὅσιον ἦν, τάχα δὲ καὶ δι’ ἀσθένειαν τῆς ἡμετέρας ὄψεως· οὐ γὰρ ἂν ἐχώρησε τὰς ἀπὸ τοῦ ὄντος ἐκχεομένας αὐγάς, ὁπότε οὐδὲ ταῖς ἀφ’ ἡλίου προσβλέπειν ἀκτῖσιν οἵα τέ ἐστι.
