οὐχ ὁρᾷς ὅσαι μὲν ἡμέρων φυτῶν ὗλαι, ὅσαι δὲ ἀγρίων κατὰ πᾶν μέρος τῆς γῆς ἀνακέχυνται; τούτων τῶν δένδρων ἕκαστον, ἄχρι μὲν ὑγιαίνει τὸ στέλεχος, ἅμα τῷ καρπῷ καὶ τὸ ὄχευμα τίκτει, μήκει δὲ χρόνων ἀφαυανθὲν ἢ καὶ ἄλλως αὐταῖς ῥίζαις φθαρὲν οὐδέποτε τὴν ἀνάλυσιν εἰς σπέρμα ἔλαβεν.
