τοῦτο μὲν οὖν τὸ πάθος μήτε σώματι μήτε πολὺ μᾶλλον ψυχῇ δεξώμεθά ποτε, τὸ δ’ ἀντιπεπονθὸς ἐκεῖνο — ἐπειδὴ πάσχειν ἀνάγκη τὸ θνητόν —, ἵνα μὴ καθάπερ οἱ θηλυδρίαι κεκλασμένοι καὶ παρειμένοι καὶ προαναπίπτοντες μετ’ ἐκλύσεως ψυχικῶν δυνάμεων ἐξασθενῶμεν, ἀλλ’ ἐρρωμένοι τοῖς διανοίας τόνοις ἐπελαφρίζειν κἀπικουφίζειν ἰσχύωμεν τὴν φορὰν τῶν ἐπαρτωμένων δεινῶν.
