καὶ διὰ τοῦτο καὶ τὸ „σάββατον“ — ἑρμηνεύεται δ’ ἀνάπαυσις — „θεοῦ“ φησιν εἶναι Μωυσῆς πολλαχοῦ τῆς νομοθεσίας (Exod. 20, 10 al.), οὐχὶ ἀνθρώπων, ἁπτόμενος φυσιολογίας ἀναγκαίας — τὸ γὰρ ἐν τοῖς οὖσιν ἀναπαυόμενον, εἰ δεῖ τἀληθὲς εἰπεῖν, ἕν ἐστιν ὁ θεός —, ἀνάπαυλαν δὲ οὐ τὴν ἀπραξίαν καλῶν, ἐπειδὴ φύσει δραστήριον τὸ τῶν ὅλων αἴτιον παῦλαν οὐδέποτε ἴσχον τοῦ ποιεῖν τὰ κάλλιστα, ἀλλὰ τὴν ἄνευ κακοπαθείας μετὰ πολλῆς εὐμαρείας ἀπονωτάτην ἐνέργειαν·
