ἀλλὰ πρός γε τὴν τοῦ ὀχυρώματος τούτου καθαίρεσιν ὁ πειρατὴς τῆς ἀδικίας καὶ φονῶν αἰεὶ κατ’ αὐτῆς εὐτρέπισται, ὃν Ἑβραῖοι καλοῦσι Γεδεών, ὃς ἑρμηνεύεται πειρατήριον· „ὤμοσε“ γάρ φησι „Γεδεὼν τοῖς ἀνδράσι Φανουὴλ λέγων· ἐν τῷ με ἐπιστρέφειν μετ’ εἰρήνης τὸν πύργον τοῦτον κατασκάψω“ (Iud. 8,9).
