πολλοὶ δ’ οὐ δυνάμενοι τὰς πιθανὰς τῶν σοφιστῶν εὑρέσεις ἀνὰ κράτος ἑλεῖν τῷ μὴ σφόδρα περὶ λόγους διὰ τὴν ἐν τοῖς ἔργοις συνεχῆ μελέτην γεγυμνάσθαι κατέφυγον ἐπὶ τὴν τοῦ μόνου σοφοῦ συμμαχίαν καὶ βοηθὸν αὐτὸν ἱκέτευσαν γενέσθαι· καθὰ καὶ τῶν Μωυσέως γνωρίμων τις ἐν ὕμνοις εὐχόμενος εἶπεν· „ἄλαλα γενέσθω τὰ χείλη τὰ δόλια„ (Psalm. 30, 19).
