διὰ τοῦτο καὶ Μωυσῆς τῷ πολεμικωτάτῳ λόγῳ, ὃς καλεῖται Φινεές, γέρας εἰρήνην φησὶ δεδόσθαι (Num. 25, 12), ὅτι ζῆλον τὸν ἀρετῆς λαβὼν καὶ πόλεμον πρὸς κακίαν ἀράμενος ὅλην ἀνέτεμε γένεσιν * * * ἑξῆς τοῖς βουλομένοις, διακύψασι καὶ διερευνησαμένοις ἀκριβῶς ὄψει πρὸ ἀκοῆς σαφεστέρῳ χρησαμένοις μάρτυρι, πιστεῦσαι, ὅτι γέμει τὸ θνητὸν ἀπιστίας, ἐκ μόνου τοῦ δοκεῖν ἠρτημένον.
