ἀνθρώπων μὲν γὰρ αἱ φωναὶ πρὸς μήκιστον ἀποτεινόμεναι πεφύκασιν ἐξασθενεῖν, ὡς ἀριδήλους τοῖς μακρὰν ἀφεστηκόσι μὴ γίνεσθαι τὰς ἀντιλήψεις ταῖς ἐπεκτάσεσιν ἐκ τοῦ κατ’ ὀλίγον ἀμαυρουμένας, ἐπειδὴ καὶ τὰ ὄργανα φθαρτά·
