ἀλλ’ ὅμως ἴσχυσε μηδὲν περὶ τῆς τοῦ ὄντος ἐρευνᾶν οὐσίας· „τὰ γὰρ ὀπίσω μου“ φησίν „ὄψει, τὸ δὲ πρόσωπον οὐ μὴ ἴδῃς“ (Exod. 33, 23). αὔταρκες γάρ ἐστι σοφῷ τὰ ἀκόλουθα καὶ ἑπόμενα καὶ ὅσα μετὰ τὸν θεὸν γνῶναι, τὴν δ’ ἡγεμονικὴν οὐσίαν ὁ βουλόμενος καταθεάσασθαι τῷ περιαυγεῖ τῶν ἀκτίνων πρὶν ἰδεῖν πηρὸς ἔσται.
