„ὁ θεὸς ὁ τρέφων με ἐκ νεότητος, ὁὁ ἄγγελος ὁὁ ῥυόμενός με ἐκ πάντων τῶν κακῶν“ (Gen. 48, 15. 16). τὰ μὲν γὰρ πρεσβύτερα ἀγαθά, οἷς ἡ ψυχὴ τρέφεται, ἀνέθηκε θεῷ, τὰ δὲ νεώτερα, ὅσα ἐκ φυγῆς ἁμαρτημάτων περιγίνεται, θεράποντι θεοῦ.
