Αἴγυπτός ποτε πολλῶν ἐθνῶν ἡγεμονίαν εἶχεν, ἀλλὰ νῦν ἐστι δούλη. Μακεδόνες οὕτως ἐπὶ καιρῶν ἤκμασαν, ὡς ἁπάσης ἀνάψασθαι τῆς οἰκουμένης τὸ κράτος, ἀλλὰ νῦν τοῖς ἐκλογεῦσι τῶν χρημάτων τοὺς ἐπιταχθέντας ὑπὸ τῶν κυρίων δασμοὺς ἐτησίους εἰσφέρουσι.
