οὕτως ἄδηλοι μὲν αἱ τύχαι πρὸς ἑκάτερα, τὰ δ’ ἀνθρώπεια ὡς ἐπὶ ζυγοῦ ταλαντεύεται βάρεσιν ἀνίσοις ἐπικουφιζόμενα καὶ καθέλκοντα· δεινὴ δ’ ἀσάφεια καὶ πολὺ σκότος κατακέχυται τῶν πραγμάτων· ὡς δ’ ἐν βαθεῖ ὕπνῳ πλαζόμεθα μηδὲν ἐμπεριελθεῖν ἀκριβείᾳ λογισμοῦ δυνάμενοι μηδ’ εὐτόνως καὶ παγίως ἐπιδράξασθαί τινος, σκιαῖς γὰρ ἔοικε καὶ φάσμασι.
