ὅσης δ’ ἀπανθρωπίας οἱ εἱρκτοφύλακες γέμουσι καὶ ὠμότητος, οὐδεὶς ἀγνοεῖ· φύσει τε γὰρ ἀνηλεεῖς εἰσι καὶ μελέτῃ συγκροτοῦνται θηριούμενοι καθ’ ἑκάστην ἡμέραν πρὸς ἀγριότητα, χρηστὸν μὲν οὐδὲν ἀλλ’ οὐδ’ ἐκ τύχης ὁρῶντες ἢ λέγοντες ἢ δρῶντες, ὅσα δὲ βιαιότατα καὶ χαλεπώτατα.
