σπεύδει τε, φασί, πᾶν ζῷον ὡς ἐπ’ ἀναγκαιότατον καὶ συνεκτικώτατον τέλος ἡδονὴν καὶ μάλιστα ἄνθρωπος· τὰ μὲν γὰρ διὰ γεύσεως μόνον καὶ τῶν γεννητικῶν ἐφίεται ταύτης, ὁ δὲ ἄνθρωπος καὶ διὰ τῶν ἄλλων αἰσθήσεων, ὅσα θεάματα ἢ ἀκούσματα τέρψιν δύναται παρασχεῖν ὠσὶ καὶ ὀφθαλμοῖς μεταδιώκων.
