ᾔδει γάρ, ἅτε δημιουργὸς ὤν, ὅτι τῶν ὄντων οὐδενός, εἰ μὴ προσγένοιτο σφοδρὸς ἔρως, ἔνεστι περιγενέσθαι. ὅσα οὖν ἐπιτηδεύουσιν ἄνθρωποι, δίχα μὲν οἰκειώσεως τῆς πρὸς αὐτὰ τὸ ἁρμόττον τέλος οὐ λαμβάνει, προσγενομένης δὲ φιλίας καὶ τῆς πρὸς τὸ ποθούμενον συντήξεως ἄκρως κατορθοῦται.
