κατὰ δὲ τὸ μεσαίτατον αὐτὸς ὁ νεὼς παντὸς λόγου κρείττων, ὡς ἐκ τῶν φαινομένων ἔστι τεκμήρασθαι· τὰ γὰρ ἔνδον ἀόρατα παντί τῳ πλὴν ἑνὶ τῷ ἀρχιερεῖ, καὶ τούτῳ μέντοι, δι’ ἔτους ἐπιτετραμμένον ἅπαξ εἰσιέναι, πάντ’ ἐστὶν ἀθέατα· πυρεῖον γὰρ ἀνθράκων πλῆρες καὶ θυμιαμάτων εἰσκομίζει, πολλῆς δ’ ἀναδιδομένης ὡς εἰκὸς ἀτμίδος κατέχεται τἀν κύκλῳ πάντα καὶ ἡ ὄψις ἐπισκιάζεται καὶ ἀνακοπὴν ἴσχει πρόσω χωρεῖν ἀδυνατοῦσα.
