τὴν δὲ ἰδέαν τῶν λόγων πεποίκιλται μὲν ἐκ τῶν Ἡρώδου πλεονεκτημάτων, λείπεται δὲ αὐτῶν τοῦ ἑτοίμου, καθάπερ ἐν ζωγραφίᾳ ἡ ἄνευ χρωμάτων ἐσκιαγραφημένη μίμησις, προὔβη δὲ ἂν καὶ ἐς τὸ ἴσον τῆς ἀρετῆς, εἰ μὴ πεντηκοντούτης ἀπέθανεν.
