Λακεδαιμόνιοι δὲ καὶ τακτικὴν ἐβούλοντο τοὺς γυμναστὰς εἰδέναι μελέτην τῶν πολεμικῶν καὶ αὐτοὺς τοὺς ἀγῶνας ἡγούμενοι, καὶ οὐ χρὴ θαυμάζειν, ὅπου καὶ τὴν ὄρχησιν, τὸ ῥᾳθυμότερον τῶν ἐν εἰρήνῃ, Λαικεδαιμόνιοι πάντως ἐς τὰ πολεμικὰ ἀνέφερον ὀρχούμενοι τρόπον, ὃν φυλάξεταί τις βέλος ἢ ἀφήσει ἢ ἀρθήσεται ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς καὶ τῇ ἀσπίδι εὐμεταχειρίστως χρήσεται.
