ὁ δὲ ἄριστα δολιχοδρομήσων τοὺς μὲν ὤμους καὶ τὸν αὐχένα κεκρατύνθω παραπλησίως πεντάθλῳ, σκελῶν δὲ λεπτῶς ἐχέτω καὶ κούφως, ὥσπερ οἱ τοῦ σταδίου δρομεῖς· ἐκεῖνοι μὲν γὰρ σκέλη χερσὶ κινοῦσιν ἐς τὸν ὀξὺν δρόμον, οἷον πτερούμενοι ὑπὸ τῶν χειρῶν, δολιχοδρόμοι δὲ τουτὶ μὲν περὶ τέρμα πράττουσι, τὸν δὲ ἄλλον χρόνον σχεδὸν οἷον διαβαίνουσιν, ἀνέχοντες ἐν προβολῇ τὰς χεῖρας, ὅθεν ἐῤῥωμενεστέρων τῶν ὤμων δέονται.
