ἡ δὲ διψὰϲ καλεῖται ὑπ’ ἐνίων θηριακῶν καύϲων ὄφιϲ. ἔϲτι δὲ κατὰ τὸ μέγεθοϲ πήχεοϲ ἑνόϲ, ἐκ παχέοϲ ἐπὶ λεπτὸν ἠγμένη· περιἐρρανται δὲ καθ’ ὅλον τὸ ϲῶμα μελαίναιϲ ϲτιγμαῖϲ καὶ κιρραῖϲ, ἔχει δὲ τὴν κεφαλὴν ϲτενοτάτην.
