Κλέανδρος ἦν ἐν Μαντινείᾳ γένους τε πρώτου καὶ δυνηθεὶς ἐν τοῖς μάλιστα τῶν πολιτῶν, τύχῃ δὲ χρησάμενος καὶ τὴν ἑαυτοῦ φυγών ἧκεν εἰς Μεγάλην πόλιν οὐχ ἥκιστα διὰ τὸν Φιλοποίμενος πατέρα Κραῦγιν, ἄνδρα πάντων ἕνεκα λαμπρόν, ἰδίᾳ δὲ πρὸς ἐκεῖνον οἰκείως ἔχοντα.
