2. Τούτων ἐκ μὲν τῶν δεξιῶν ἀπὸ Βερνίκης συναφής ἐστιν ἡ Βαρβαρικὴ χώρα. Καὶ ἔστι τὰ μὲν παρὰ θάλασσαν Ἰχθυοφάγων ἐν μάνδραις ᾠκοδομημέναις ἐν στενώμασι σποράδην διοικούντων, τὰ δὲ μεσόγεια Βαρβάρων καὶ τῶν μετʼ αὐτοὺς Ἀγριοφάγων καὶ Μοσχοφάγων κατὰ τυραννίδα νεμομένων, οἷς ἐπίκειται κατὰ νώτου μεσόγειος ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς δύσιν μερῶν μητρόπολις λεγομένη Μερόη.
