Φάρυγξ τραχεῖα κουφόνοον, πολύλογον, φλύα- ρον καὶ [p.265] πρόγλωσσον ἄνδρα σημαίνει. εἰ δὲ εἷς τῶν τοῦ βρόγχου σπονδύλων ἐξέχοι, κουφόνουν ἄνδρα λέγει, εἰς δὲ γλῶσ- σαν τοῦτον οὐκ εἶναι θρασύν. οἱ ἔσωθεν σπόνδυλοι ὄντες ἁδροὶ καὶ ὑπότοποι τοῦ φάρυγγος δυσοργήτους, ἀνιαροὺς συμπότας δηλοῦσιν ἄνδρας.
