87. ἔθνεα] πρὸς τοὺς εἰκαζομένους Ἕλληνας, ἐπεὶ σμήνεα ἔδει εἰπεῖν. πρώτη δὲ αὕτη παραβολὴ τῷ ποιητῇ. συγγενὲς δὲ ποιητικῇ τὸ ζῶον διὰ τὸν μόχθον καὶ τὸ γλυκὺ καὶ τὴν σύνθεσιν τοῦ κηρίου. ἡ μὲν οὖν φαλαγγηδὸν γινομένη πρόοδος εὗ ἔχει· ὡπλισμέναι δέ εἰσι κέντροις, ὑπήκοοί τε καὶ αὐταί εἰσι καὶ ἐπ᾿ ἔργον ἐξίασιν, οὐχ ὡς αἱ γέρανοι. φιλάλληλοί τέ εἰσι, μεταβαίνουσαί τε πολλὰς ἀρχὰς πτήσεως ποιοῦνται. *ἁδινάων] δασυντέον τὸ ἀδινάων· ἀπὸ γὰρ τοῦ ἅδην καὶ ἀδινός ἡ κίνησις.
