Ῥυπαῖον δὲ Ἀντίγονος μὲν τῆς Ἀχαιίδος φησὶν εἶναι, ἐπεὶ καὶ Ῥυπαῖοι οἱ Ἀχαιοὶ ὠνομάσθησαν. ἔστι δὲ τῆς Αἰτωλίας, ὡς Νίκανδρος περί τινων εἰς Αἰτωλίαν διερχομένων διηγούμενος δι’ αἰπεινήν τε κολώνην Οἰωνοῦ Ῥύπης τε πάγον καὶ Ὀνθίδα λίμνην στείχοντες Ναύπακτον ἐς Ἀμφιδύμην τ’ ἐπέλαξον. τὸ δὲ Ἀσέληνον Λοκρικὸν ὄρος ἐστὶ δυσχείμερον. ταῦτα οὖν πάντα ὀνόματά εἰσιν ὀρῶν τῆς Εὐρώπης. πάλιν δὲ Βουκάρτερος καὶ Αἰσαγέης καὶ Κέρκαφος ὀνόματά εἰσιν ὀρῶν τῆς Ἀσίας.
