Ἡ δέ νυ χροιὴ οἵη περ δάπιδος: τοῦ λεγομένου τάπητος. οὕτω, φησί, ποικίλη ἐστὶν ἡ χροιὰ αὐτοῦ καὶ δασεῖα. σαφὲς δὲ περὶ σηπεδόνος. τοῦ γὰρ τῆς δάπιδος χρώματος μὴ ὡρισμένου ὁμοιοῦται αὐτὴν τῇ σηπεδόνι κατὰ χροιάν. εἰ μὴ ἄρα πλεῖστον κόκκινα γίνονται· τοιοῦτον βούλεται δηλοῦν τὸ σῶμα αὐτοῦ, οἷον κόκκινον. λέγοι δ’ ἄν περὶ τῆς δασείας δάπιδος, οὐ περὶ τῆς ψιλῆς, ἵνα ἅμα καὶ τὸ δασὺ αὐτοῦ σημαίνῃ.
