Παιφάσσουσαν: ἤτοι ὁρμῶσαν καὶ πολλῷ ταράχῳ κινουμένην. καὶ τὸ στεγνὰ δέ οἱ πτερά ἀντὶ τοῦ ὑμενώδη, ὡς τῶν ἀκρίδων. ἡ σύνταξις, ἥντινα φάλαιναν ὁ ἀκρόνυχος, ἤγουν ἑσπερινός, δειπνητός, τουτέστιν ὁ δεῖπνος, πολυταράχως περὶ τοὺς λύχνους κινουμένην καὶ ὁρμῶσαν ἀπήλασεν. ἔγχλοα δέ, ἐπειδὴ αὐχμηρὰν ἔχει τὴν γαστέρα ὁ κρανοκολάπτης, ὁποία, φησί, τῆς κονίλης. ἡ δὲ κονίλη βοτάνη ἐστὶ ξηρότατα ἔχουσα τὰ φύλλα.
