Κελεύει δὲ καὶ σιλφίου ῥίζαν τρίψαντα μετὰ λευκοῦ ἐλαίου παρέχειν πίνειν· τὸ δὲ σίλφιον καὶ ῥιζίον Κυρηναϊκὸν καλοῦσί τινες, ἐξ οὗ γίνεται ὀπὸς, νῦν δὲ περὶ τοῦ ῥιζίου φησίν.
