Λοπὶς αὐξίδα· ἢ ὅταν ἡ λοπὶς τὴν ὅλην αὐξίδα μολύνῃ, ἐξ οὗ δηλοῖ τὸ φθείρει· αὐξὶς εἶδος ἰχθύος ὅμοιον θύννῳ. Αὐξίδα χραίνῃ, τουτέστι τὸ σῶμα ἀφανίζῃ, αὐξὶς δὲ τὸ σῶμα· μετὰ γὰρ τὸ ἀγρευθῆναι οἷον δή τινα ἰχθὺν, εἰ μένοι ἐπ’ αὐτῷ τὸ λέπος αὐτοῦ, ἀφανίζει αὐτὸν καὶ ὄζειν ποιεῖ.
