Κελεύει κονίαν ἀπὸ τῶν κλημάτων πλύναντα καλαμίνῳ καλάθω διυλίζειν, καὶ μεθ’ ὕδατος θερμάναντα διδόναι πίνειν· δοκεῖ γὰρ ἡ κονία ἤγουν ἡ τέφρα ἤτοι στακτὴ ἀπορρύπτειν ἀπὸ τῶν σωμάτων πᾶν τὸ περιπλασσόμενον τοῦ ψιμμυθίου τοῖς σπλάγχνοις· ῥύμμα δὲ τὸ σμῆγμα, τὸ κάθισμα, τὸν ῥύπον· φησὶ δὲ πλύνεσθαι τὴν τέφραν τὴν κληματίνην καὶ διηθεῖσθαι ἐν τοῖς κόλποις τοῦ νεοπλεκοῦς καλάθου διὰ τὴν ἰλύν.
