Ὁ πειράζων τὸν θεὸν ἔλαβεν οὖν δεύτερον βέλος μετὰ τοῦ πρώτου καὶ ἀπῆλθεν, μᾶλλον οὐκ ἀπῆλθεν, ἀλλ’ ἔμεινεν ἐν τῇ ἀναισχυντίᾳ. Ἴδιον γὰρ τῆς κακίας ἐπαγωνίζεσθαι τὴν ἰδίαν μανίαν. Παραλαμβάνει τὸν κύριον πάλιν εἰς ὄρος ὑψηλὸν λίαν καὶ δείκνυσιν αὐτῷ πάσας τὰς βασιλείας τοῦ κόσμου καὶ τὴν δόξαν αὐτῶν , ἐν στιγμῇ χρόνου.
