καὶ ὃν τρόπον ἐν τῇ ἰατρικῇ ἐτηρήσαμεν ὅτι ἡ τῆς καρδίας περέψυξίς ἐστι θάνατος, οὐ τὴν Δίωνος μόνον τελευτὴν αὐτῇ συμ- παρατηρήσαντες ἀλλὰ καὶ Θέωνος καὶ Σωκράτους καὶ ἄλλων πολλῶν, οὕτω καὶ ἐν μαθηματικῇ εἰ πιστόν ἐστιν ὅτι ὅδε ὁ σχηματισμὸς τῶν ἀστέρων τοιούτου βίου μη- νυτικὸς καθέστηκεν, πάντως οὐχ ἅπαξ ἐφʼ ἑνὸς ἀλλὰ πολλάκις ἂν ἐπὶ πολλῶν παρετηρήθη.
