τό τε τέμνον τὴν γραμμὴν ἤτοι σῶμά ἐστιν ἢ ἀσώματον. οὔτε δὲ σῶμα δύναται τυγχάνειν ἀθιγὲς γάρ τι καὶ ἀσώματον καὶ μὴ ὑποπῖπτον αὑτῷ οὐκ ἂν τέμοι οὔτε ἀσώματον, τουτὶ γὰρ πάλιν εἰ μὲν στιγμή ἐστι, τῷ ἀμερὴς εἶναι καὶ κατὰ ἀμεροῦς πίπτειν οὐκ ἂν τέμοι, εἰ δὲ γραμμή, πάλιν ἐπεὶ τῷ πέρατι ἑαυτῆς ὀφείλει τέμνειν, τὸ δὲ πέρας αὐτῆς ἐστιν ἀμερές, οὐ τέμνει.
