οὔτε γὰρ φυτὸν οὔτε ζῷον οὔτε λίθος οὔτε ἄλλο τι τῶν ἀριθμητῶν τὸ ὄντως ἕν ἐστιν. εἰ γὰρ φυτόν ἐστιν ἢ ζῷον τὸ ἕν, πάντως ὃ μὴ φυτόν ἐστι μηδὲ ζῷον οὐ ῥηθήσεται ἕν λέγεται δὲ καὶ φυτὸν ἓν καὶ ζῷον καὶ ἄλλα μυρία· οὐδὲν ἄρα τῶν ἀριθμητῶν ἐστι 〈τὸ〉 ἕν, τὸ δὲ οὗ ἕκαστον 〈μετέχον ἕν τε καὶ πολλὰ γίνεται·〉 ἓν μὲν καθʼ ἑαυτὸ ἕκαστον, πολλὰ δέ ἀθροισμῷ [μετέχον, ἕν τε και πολλά γίνεται] τῶν καθʼ ἕκαστον. ὅπερ πάλιν πλῆθος οὐδέν ἐστι τῶν πολλῶν, οἷον φυτῶν ζῴων λίθων κατὰ μετοχὴν μὲν γὰρ ἐκείνου ταῦτα λέγεται πολλά, αὐτὸ δὲ οὔκ ἐστιν ἐν τούτοις.
