ἐμφαίνει δὲ τὸ τοιοῦτο πολύ πρόσθεν Ὅμηρος (σ 163) εἰπών· τοῖος γὰρ νόος ἐστὶν ἐπιχθονίων ἀνθρώπων, οἷον ἐπ’ ἦμαρ ἄγῃσι πατὴρ ἀνδρῶν τε θεῶν τε. καὶ Ἀρχίλοχος δέ φησι τοὺς ἀνθρώπους τοιαῦτα φρονεῖν (fr. 70 Bergk) ὁποίην Ζεὺς ἐφ’ ἡμέρην ἄγει. εἴρηται δὲ καὶ τῷ Εὐριπίδῃ (Troad. 885) τὸ αὐτό· ὅστις <ποτ᾿> εἶ σὺ δυστόπαστος εἰσιδεῖν Ζεύς, εἴτ’ ἀνάγκη φύσεος εἴτε νοῦς βροτῶν, ἐπευξάμην σε.
