καὶ ὅτι ἡ ἀπερίσπαστός ἐστι συνδρομὴ τοῦ πίστιν ἐμποιεῖν, φανερὸν ἀπὸ Μενελάου· καταλιπὼν γὰρ ἐν τῇ νηὶ τὸ εἴδωλον τῆς Ἑλένης, ὅπερ ἀπὸ Τροίας ἐπήγετο ὡς Ἑλένην, καὶ ἐπιβὰς τῆς Φάρου νήσου ὁρᾷ τὴν ἀληθῆ Ἑλένην, σπῶν τε ἀπ’ αὐτῆς ἀληθῆ φαντασίαν ὅμως οὐ πιστεύει τῇ τὸ τοιαύτῃ φαντασίᾳ διὰ τὸ ὐπ’ ἄλλης περισπᾶσθαι, καθ’ ἣν ᾔδει ἀπολελοιπὼς ἐν τῇ νηὶ τὴν Ἑλένην.
