εἰ δέ ἐστί τι ἄδηλον ἀληθές, οὐ μόνον τὸ φαινόμενόν ἐστιν ἀληθές, ὧς ἀρχῆθεν ὑπέκειτο. εἶτα πόθεν ὅτι καὶ τὸ ἄδηλον τοῦτο ἀληθές ἐστιν; εἰ μὲν γὰρ αὐτόθεν, ἔσται καὶ πάντα τὰ ἄδηλα τῶν πραγμάτων αὐτόθεν ἀληθῆ. εἰ δ’ ὡς ἀποδειχθέν, πάντως ἢ ἐξ ἀδήλου ἢ ἐκ φαινομένου ἀποδειχθὲν ἔσται ἀληθές. καὶ εἰ μὲν ἐξ ἀδήλου, ἐκεῖνο πάλιν ἐξ ἄλλου τινὸς δεήσει κεκρίσθαι, καὶ τὸ τρίτον ἐκ τετάρτου, καὶ οὕτως εἰς ἄπειρον·
