πᾶν τοίνυν τὸ ἐν τοῖς αἰσθητοῖς ὑποπῖπτόν τινος πέρας καὶ σημεῖον σὺν τούτῳ καταλαμβάνεταί τινος ἄκρον, σὺν τῷ καὶ μέρος ἐκείνου, οὗπέρ ἐστιν ἄκρον, ὑπάρχειν· ἐὰν γοῦν ἀφέλωμεν αὐτό, μειωθήσεται τὸ ἀφʼ οὖ ἡ ἀφαίρεσις. τὸ δέ μέρος τινὸς ὑπάρχον εὐθὺς καὶ συμπληρωτικὸν αὐτοῦ καθέστηκεν, ὃ δέ ἐστί τινος συμ- πληρωτικόν, πάντως αὔξει τὸ μῆκος ἐκείνου, καὶ ὃ ἐστι μεγέθους αὐξητικόν, τοῦτο ἐξ ἀνάγκης ἔχει μέγεθος.
