ἡ τοίνυν ἀπὸ τῆς ὑποκειμένης δεκάδος ἀφαιρουμένη μονὰς ἤτοι ἀπὸ ὅλης τῆς δεκάδος ἢ ἀπὸ τῆς περιλειπομένης ἐννεάδος ἀφαιρεῖται· οὔτε δὲ ἀφʼ ὅλης, ὡς παραστήσομεν, οὔτε ἀπὸ τῆς ἐννεάδος, ὡς διδάξομεν οὐκ ἄρα ἀφαιρεῖταί τι ἀπὸ τῆς ὑποκειμένης δεκάδος. εἰ γὰρ ἀφʼ ὅλης ταύτης ἀφαιρεῖται ἡ μονάς, ἤτοι ἡ δεκάς ἐστιν ἑτέρα τῶν κατὰ μέρος μονάδων ἢ ὁ ἀθροισμὸς τούτων δεκὰς προσαγο- ρεύεται.
