Ἀλλὰ περὶ μὲν τῆς τοῦ σώματος νοήσεως τε καὶ ὑπο- στάσεως ἐν τοῖς σκεπτικοῖς (PH III 38 sq.) ὑπεμνήσαμεν ἀκριβέστερον· νυνὶ δὲ ἀποστάντες τούτων τῶν ἐλέγχων ἐκεῖνο λέγωμεν ὅτι τῶν σωμάτων κατὰ τὸ ἀνωτάτω διττή τίς ἐστι διαφορά· τὰ μέν γὰρ αὐτῶν αἰσθητὰ καθ- έστηκε τὰ δὲ νοητά. καὶ εἰ τὸ διδασκόμενόν ἐστι σῶμα. πάντως ἤτοι νοητόν ἐστιν ἢ αἰσθητόν.
