καὶ γὰρ ὁ κύων ὅτε ἐκ τοῦ ἴχνους στιβεύει τὸ θηρίον σημειοῦται· ἀλλ’ οὐ διὰ τοῦτο ἀξιώματος ἕλκει φαντασίαν τοῦ “εἴπερ ἴχνος ἐστὶ τοῦτο, θηρίον ἔστιν ἐνθάδε”. καὶ ὁ ἵππος κατὰ τὴν τοῦ μύωπος προσβολὴν ἢ τὴν τῆς μάστιγος ἐπανάτασιν ἐξάλλεται μὲν καὶ ὀρούει πρὸς δρόμον, οὐκ ἐπικρίνει δὲ τὸ τοιοῦτον συνημμένον διαλεκτικῶς “εἰ μάστιξ ἐπ’ ἀνατέταται, ἐστί μοι” . οὐκ ἄρα ἀξίωμά ἐστι τὸ σημεῖον ἐν ὑγιεῖ συνημμένῳ καθηγούμενον.
