εἶτα καὶ τοῦτʼ ἀδύνατόν ἐστιν ἀπείρων οὐσῶν λέξεων καὶ ἄλλως παρʼ ἄλλοις ὀνο- ματοποιηθεισῶν ἢ ἐπὶ πράγμασιν οἶς ἡμεῖς οὐκ ἴσμεν τε θεικῶν. οἷόν ἐστι τὸ 〈 ἐβαρβάριζε τὸ ὅλον, ἕλκη ἔχον ἐν τῇ χειρίʼ, τοῦ μὲν〉 ἐβαρβάριζεν ἀντὶ τοῦ ἐσύριζε κει- μένου, βάρβαροι γὰρ οἱ Σύροι, τοῦ δὲ ὅλου ἀντὶ τοῦ παντός, ὅλον γὰρ καὶ πᾶν συνώνυμον, τοῦ δέ ἕλκους ἀντὶ τῆς σύριγγος, εἶδος γὰρ ἕλκους ἡ σύριγξ· ὥστε τὸ ὅλον γίνεσθαι τοιοῦτον ἐσύριζεν ὁ Πάν, σύριγγας ἔχων ἐν τῇ χειρί..
