τάχα τοίνυν κἀν φιλοσοφίᾳ οἱ μὲν περινούστατοι τῶν ζητησάντων τὴν ἀλήθειαν τῷ εὐφυεῖς εἶναι πιθανοὶ καθεστάναι δοκοῦσι, κἂν τῷ ψεύδει συνηγορῶσιν, οἱ δὲ ἀφυεῖς ἀπίθανοι, κἂν τῷ ἀληθεῖ συμμαχῶσιν. οὔτε οὖν διὰ ἡλικίαν οὔτε διὰ φιλοπονίαν οὔτε διὰ σύνεσιν οἰκεῖόν ἐστι τινὰ τινὸς προκρίνειν καὶ τόνδε μὲν λέγειν εὑρηκέναι τἀληθὲς τόνδε δὲ μηδαμῶς.
