οὐκ ἄρα κριτήριόν ἐστιν ἡ διάνοια. πλείους τέ εἰσιν αἱ διάνοιαι, πλείους δὲ οὖσαι διάφωνοι καθεστᾶσιν, διαφωνοῦσαι δὲ χρείαν ἔχουσι τοῦ ἐπικρίνοντος αὐτάς. τοῦτ’ οὖν ἤτοι διάνοια πάλιν ἐστὶν ἤ ἕτερόν τι παρ’ αὐτήν. καὶ διάνοια μὲν οὐκ ἂν εἴη· μέρος γὰρ τῆς διαφωνίας γενόμενον κρίσεως δεήσεται καὶ οὐκέτι κριτήριον γενήσεται· ἕτερον δὲ παρ’ αὐτὴν ὑπάρχον τὸ μὴ εἶναι διάνοιαν κριτήριον παρίστησιν.
