Λείπεται ἄρα λέγειν ἀμφότερα, τουτέστι τὴν διάνοιαν ὧς ὑπουργῷ χρωμένην τῇ αἰσθήσει λαμβάνειν τὰ ἐκτός. ὃ πάλιν ἐστὶν ἀδύνατον· ἡ γὰρ αἴσθησις οὐ τὰ ἐκτὸς παρίστησι τῇ διανοίᾳ, τὸ δὲ ἴδιον ἀγγέλλει πάθος, οἶον ἡ ἁφὴ ἀπὸ πυρὸς θαλπομένη οὐ τὸ ἐκτὸς καὶ καῖον πῦρ ἀναδίδωσι τῇ διανοίᾳ, τὴν δὲ ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ θάλψιν, τουτέστι τὸ ἴδιον αὑτῆς πάθος. καίτοι οὐδὲ τοῦτο.
